Shiva Sutras Origin
In ancient Kashmir, there lived a wise and enlightened man named Vasugupta during 860–925 AD. He was deeply devoted to Lord Shiva and possessed exceptional wisdom. Despite the teachings of other masters in Kashmir, he followed his own path.
One night, Lord Shiva appeared in Vasugupta’s dream, revealing the existence of a special rock near Mahadeva Mountain. Shiva instructed Vasugupta to find this rock, which held hidden teachings. When Vasugupta found the rock and touched it, it miraculously turned over, revealing the Shiva Sutras inscribed beneath.
Filled with wonder and joy, Vasugupta studied these sutras and shared them with his most deserving students, always remembering Shiva’s guidance to share them only with those ready for such wisdom. This tradition continues to this day.
